March Favorites + Prom!

Currently Listening: Down the Rabbit Hole by Mac Miller

I can't recall a more perfect day in my recent history. Despite having three 1 1/2 classes today, the weather was a beautiful 91 degrees Fahrenheit and.... I got asked to prom!!!! I couldn't be happier as I now tan in my backyard while writing this post. Before I go into prom detail I'll carry on with my favorite things of March.

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer
Being the makeup fanatic that I presume to be, eyelid primer is something not to many people are aware of as a necessity to that perfect eye look. Eyeshadow primer is not one of those frivolous products that employees attempt to sell you while that have already convinced you to buy multiple other items. Eyeshadow primer is used underneath eyeshadow and/or eyeliner to ensure that throughout the day there is no creasing or unintentional smudging as well as intensifying the color payoff of your eyeshadows and liners. Popular eyeshadow primers include Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. With their clever names that obviously interested me, but upon testing them before purchasing I realized they failed to have any coloring. Some people prefer to have a translucent eyeshadow primer, but i wanted one that corrected the overall tone of my eyelids that tend to show veins when i am tired. This product is actually a repurchase, as I discovered it about a year ago. I would highly recommend it if you are in the search for the perfect tinted eyeshadow primer.

2. L'Occitane Shea Butter Nail & Cuticle Cream
Since I was in about third grade, I have had a nasty habit of biting and picking at my nails and cuticles. Disgusting? I know, but I can't help myself when I am nervous or stress. However, with much willpower I managed to stop biting my nails about eight years ago when my mom bribed me with weekly manicures to stop this gross habit. Although, I still haven't been able to cease picking at my cracked cuticles. About a year ago, as well. my mom and I came across this cuticle cream while having a little shopping trip when it was being advertised at the store window. My mom decided it was imperative to buy three tubes of this product immediately! Initially I rolled my eyes, but now I secretly thank her because I am now on my last tube and my cuticles are almost considered normal looking! I put it on every morning in my car before school. My friends might think I am extremely weird when I dot this thick white cream on each finger, but hey at least I am being proactive at a cure!

3. OPI Bubble Bath
I was gifted this nail polish for the holidays last year. I heard about it all over the Internet as being the perfect pale pink, so being my favorite color, I had to check it out. Turns out I really love the color! Only pitfall is that it is rather sheer and needs at least three coats for an opaque finish. Nevertheless, I am still constantly drawn to paint my nails this color every Sunday night.

4. L'Oreal Hip Jelly Balm in Plush
I have recently become interested in almost all lip products. Being that spring has arrived, I feel more daring to try out the trendy bold and bright colors. This shade is a bubble gum pink that goes on so smoothly and effortlessly. I like that it is a buildable color for days that I only want a tint. The L'Oreal Hip Jelly Balms are often compared to their higher end counterpart the MAC Tendertones, which are limited edition. I can't preach for the MAC product for I have never been able to test one out, but I love L'Oreal Hip Jelly Balms. I hope to get the other shades next time I hit the drugstores.

5. Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in #2
I think I mentioned this product back in October when I bought my holy-grail foundation. I love the color of this blush, it is the perfect light pink that gives me such a natural flush. It is also a buildable product so I can switch it up when I want to go with the bold cheek trend.

6. Hiking and Bike Rides
I consider myself a rather active person and I really enjoy being outdoors. Two of my all time favorite activities are bike riding and hiking. Earlier in this month, when I have more free time, I went either hiking or bike riding every day! I love the rush I get from being so close to nature, as well as the satisfaction of knowing I'm not being a lazy bum.

7. My Dog
My dog , Biscuit, and I have rather a hate love relationship. She tends to "unfavor" me while I am obsessed with her. Ironically, she was intended to be my dog, but she has grown rather in love with my mom. As my school schedule has changed and I now am finished at one o'clock, I have more time to spend with her when I get home. Now we go on 30 minute walks right when I get home, then we play, then I feed her dinner. I don't know if she will admit it, but I have a feeling she is starting to become more fond of me.

8. PROM & Prom Dresses
Since February I have been on the constant and very obsessive hunt for the perfect prom dress. Everyday I would spend hours upon hours of Internet shopping on every website imaginable. Of course I saw the gorgeous gowns that would cost the same as college tuition as well as the tacky prom dresses that my friends and I poke fun at. Then I came across it, exactly what I have been looking for, but I continued my search just to make sure I was certain. This dress never left my mind though and on a recent shopping excursion that I miraculously managed to convince my brother to join in on, I impulsively bought it. I don't think I will reveal the actual dress just yet, but it is short and light pink with sequins!
Besides the obvious need for a dress for prom, I needed a date as well! Since last school year I have been wondering who in the world I was going to go to prom with! Boyfriendless and no major "love" interests, I figured that I would go alone with my dress or with a girl friend. Low be hold, my best guy friend since kindergarten thankfully decided to ask me, TODAY! He did it in the cutest way with some help from my best girl friends. He took multi colored post it notes with "?" and covered my entire car and then wrote " Prom?" and other phrases all over the windows. I did a double take to make sure the car was actually mine, then I ran to it overjoyed and all my friends popped out of hiding. I couldn't ask for a better way!

That's it! My March favorites, tell me what your favorite things of March were in the comments below!

Spring Has Sprung! + OOTD

Currently Listening: Crave You ft Giselle by Flight Facilities

What's up blog?! Long time no see! I could come up with some elaborate story explaining my absence, but truthfully I haven't been quiet so inspired lately. All of January and February occupied me with my final dance show and final semester exams. March was a tough month and I just needed some time to myself. Now that we are approaching April and spring is finally here, I feel inspired by the beautiful 80 degree weather I have today! Not to mention I was nudged by my dear friend to start posting again.

For the past few weeks I have been obsessed with spring cleaning and organizing absolutely everything in my sight! I have cleaned and organized not only my closet but my family and friends. I just love the feeling of refreshed satisfaction knowing that everything has a place and there are no hidden mysteries. By cleaning out my closet I rediscover clothes I haven't "seen in ages" and promise myself I will try my best to incorporate old pieces to make new outfits. Let's hope it works this time!

Another new obsession of mine is a rapper named Mac Miller. I was introduced to him by a friend a few months ago and he recently released a mix tape called "the Best Day Ever", or also referred to as BDE. I love how light and smooth his songs are and how different his sound is. I have been listening to him nonstop for the past month.

I have also been addicted to Pretty Little Liars! Unfortunately they just had the spring finale last week, so I have to wait until summer for new episodes! I love the constant mystery with new surprises, fashion, character's personalities, and romance. I'd have to say my favorite character is Hannah because of her storyline and style.

Like I previously mentioned, today is a gorgeous day in my neck of the woods. It is 80 degrees Fahrenheit with clear skies, chirping birds, wind chimes and a hint of those perfect summer days. This totally doesn't help my current senioritis, my cold, or the 150 pages I have to read by tomorrow. So instead I subtly celebrated by busting out a spring outfit. I wore a super short navy ditsy floral dress with ruffle detailing, a light washed denim shirt, black riding boots, thin brown belt, chunky purple bracelet and a tan fedora.

How have you been celebrating the start of spring? Any new discoveries in the past few months? Share in the comments below!
